11:00am to 1:00pm

Elizabeth Grace Veatch from Emory University will be in the exhibit with touchable objects to answer questions and talk about her research. Grace's research focuses on small mammal remains from Liang Bua (an archaeological cave site located on the Indonesian island of Flores) to understand how changes in local ecology through time affected hominin occupations, including Homo floresiensis and modern humans. Her taphonomic research is also geared towards understanding the role of small mammals in the evolution of the human diet, as well as faunal/hominin diaspora within Southeast Asia.

The Scientist Is In program provides opportunities for museum visitors to have informal conversations with scientists, and is not a formal lecture program. Drop in and join the conversation.
