Portrait of Robin Teague.

Robin’s research focuses on the ecological conditions faced by early hominins as they dispersed into East Asia around 1.8 million years ago. She has measured mammal fossils to show that hominins colonizing East Asia were able to adapt to faunas with different ecological characteristics compared with East Africa. Studies of Asian and African carnivores from this time period also show that meat-eating hominins in Asia would have had to adjust to competition from different types of predators as well.
