Expert is In: Dr. Chet Sherwood [Hall of Human Origins]
Got brains on your mind? Ever wonder how animal and hominin brains evolved? Join anthropologist and neuroscientist Dr. Chet Sherwood in the Hall of Human Origins to talk about brain evolution and learn more about how our ancestors' brains influenced their behavior and evolution!
Dr. Chet Sherwood is a biological anthropologist and neuroscientist who studies brain evolution in primates and other mammals. His research investigates how brains differ among species and how this variation is correlated with behavior, shaped by the rules of developmental biology, impacted by experience, and encoded in the genome. He was inducted into the National Academy of Sciences in 2021 and elected a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in 2022. He currently co-directs the National Chimpanzee Brain Resource and the Great Ape Neuroscience Project.
The Expert Is In program provides opportunities for museum visitors to have informal conversations with scientists, and is not a formal lecture program. Drop in and join the conversation!
