Almost 20 years ago, the discovery of a human skeleton with a chimp-sized brain and short stature (~1 meter) in a cave on a remote Indonesian island shocked scientists and the general public alike from around the world. Dr. Matt Tocheri, the Canada Research Chair in Human Origins at Lakehead University and a Research Associate in the Smithsonian Institution's Human Origins Program, shares his knowledge about Homo floresiensis, the enigmatic "hobbits' of human evolution.
