Hanneke J.M. Meijer

Dr. Hanneke J.M. Meijer is an Associate Professor and the Curator of Osteology at the University of Bergen’s University Museum in Bergen, Norway, and a Research Collaborator at the Human Origins Department of the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C. Hanneke's interests are the evolution, paleoecology and extinction of insular birds. Her main research focuses on Southeast Asia where she studies fossil bird remains from Flores and other Indonesian islands to document prehistoric avian biodiversity, and to reconstruct Pleistocene palaeoenvironments. Hanneke is also involved in the Dodo Research Program on Mauritius, which aims to reconstruct the lost world of the dodo.
